Constitution and Bylaws
(An Ohio Not-For-Profit Corporation)
For the purpose of preserving and securing the principles of our faith in Jesus Christ and to this end that this body be governed in an orderly manner consistent with the accepted tenets of Baptist churches, which cooperate with the Metro Columbus Baptist Association, State Convention of Baptists in Ohio, and the Southern Baptist Convention, and for the purpose of preserving the liberties inherent in each individual member of the Church, and to set forth the relationship of this body to other bodies of the same faith, we do declare and establish this Constitution. This Constitution supersedes all previous constitutions.
ARTICLE I - Name, Purpose, and Property
Section 1. Name. The name of this Church shall be The Crossing Community Church (hereinafter “Church”).
Section 2. Purpose. The purpose for which the Church is organized is the support and maintenance of the worship of God, and for missionary work pursuant to the faith and practice of the Southern Baptist Convention, as expressed in The Baptist Faith and Message (1963, unamended) (hereinafter “BFM”). This purpose will be realized by fulfilling the Great Commandments (Mt. 22:36-40) and the Great Commission (Mt. 28:18-20) as expressed in Appendix A.
Section 3. Property of Church. All property of the Church is to be held for the use and benefit of the membership. The membership has chosen to adhere to, maintain and propagate the doctrines, faith and practices of Southern Baptist churches cooperating with the Metro Columbus Baptist Association, State Convention of Baptists in
ARTICLE II - Declaration of Faith
The Church affirms the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God, and as the only sufficient rule for our faith and practice. The Church also accepts BFM as a reliable summary of our faith and practice.
ARTICLE III - Character
Section 1. Policy. The government of this Church shall be vested in its membership. The Church is an autonomous body and maintains the right to govern and administer its own affairs independent of any denominational control. The Church recognizes, however, the benefits of cooperation with other churches in international and North American missions, ministry and education and voluntarily cooperates with the Southern Baptist Convention in its national, state and local entities.
Section 2. Doctrine. The Holy Scripture shall be its authority and guide of faith and practice.
ARTICLE IV - Ordinances The ordinances shall be Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
Section 1. Baptism.
- Repentance and profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior shall precede Baptism.
- Baptism shall be by immersion and in accordance with Article VII of the BFM.
- Baptism shall be administered by authority of the Church.
Section 2. The Lord's Supper.
- The Lord's Supper shall be observed as prescribed by the Scriptures and Article VII of the BFM.
- The Lord's Supper shall be observed once each quarter and at such other times as the Church may designate.
ARTICLE V - Membership
Section 1. General. Membership in the Church shall consist of all persons who have met the qualifications for membership and are listed on the membership roll.
Section 2. Qualifications for Membership. Membership can be obtained by meeting one of the following qualifications:
- Profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and baptism by immersion;
- Letter of Transfer from another
of like faith and order. Baptist Church
- Associate (non-voting membership for temporary residents of the community); or
- Statement of baptism by immersion in a church of like faith and order.
ARTICLE VI - Meetings and Organizations
The Church shall maintain and foster the meetings and organizations as prescribed in the Bylaws.
ARTICLE VII - Officers
The Officers of this Church shall be a senior Pastor, ministerial staff and/or directors for ministry as approved by the church, Deacons, Clerk, Treasurer, Trustees, and Moderator. Additional details and responsibilities for each of these offices shall be as prescribed in the Bylaws.
ARTICLE VIII - Church Council
The Church Council shall consist of the full-time ministerial staff of the Church, other ministerial staff and directors for ministry as approved by the church, all committee chairpersons, Moderator, Chairperson of the Deacons, and Chairperson of the Trustees. The duties of the Church Council shall be as prescribed in the Bylaws.
ARTICLE IX - Amendments
This Constitution may be amended by a vote of two-thirds of the members present at a regular Business Meeting, provided a quorum is present and further provided the amendment has been presented in writing and read at a previous regular Business Meeting. A quorum for the voting on an amendment to the Constitution is ten percent of the resident membership.

Together in Christ- nurturing, teaching and reaching for the glory of God.
“In Christ”: In Christ we have a new identity! Our first identity is in Christ.
“Together”: We celebrate our diversity of ethnicity, gender, occupation, experience and talent, and in humility, we valve human dignity and esteem each person in Christ. We believe “the body is one unit, made up of many parts,” (1Cor 12:12-31).
“Nurturing”: A person at our church that is an example of “nurturing would be Randy Wagner. We aim to spiritually nourish and cultivate healthy Christ-followers. Rooted in prayer and worship, we serve each other, care for any in crisis, apply our spiritual gifts, engaged in healthy fellowship, and financially support healthy church growth (Rom 12:9-13). As spiritual catalysts for one another, we will pray for and provoke one another unto spiritual maturity and devotional piety (Hebrews 10:19-25).
“Teaching”: We foster a culture of learning, both as life-learners and as co-teachers (2 Tim 2:2). All spiritual instruction is grounded in biblical education, since God’s Word is our authority in faith (2Tim 3:16-17). We prayerfully seek wisdom from the Holy Spirit, who reveals biblical truth as we obediently apply God’s word (John 14:26). We value small group discipleship (Mark 3:13-19), one-on-one mentoring (Phil 2:22), and formal instruction (Matt 5- 7, 10, 13, 18, 24-25) in equipping our members.
“Reaching”: We extend the arm of Christ in sensitivity to the needs of others and intercede for them in prayer (Col 4:2-6). We evangelistically proclaim the Gospel, the foundation of missions, as good news for those lost without Jesus (Rom 10:12-15). We are concerned about social needs, hunger, and poverty and wish to exercise mercy toward the widow, orphan, and refuge (Micah 6:8, James 1:27 and 2:14-17). Example is Stowe Center and the Internationals.
“For the glory of God”: We rejoice when God receives glory, honor, power, and praise (Matt 6:13b, Rom 16:25-27, 2 Cor 1:3-4, Eph 1:3-14m and 3:20-21, 1 Pet 1:3-9, Jude 24-25, Rev 4:8-11, 5:9-14). We admonish one another to live in a manner that honors his holy name and applauds godliness (Col 3:15-17). In reverence for God, we conduct our thoughts, actions, and speech to bring God the glory (1 Cor 10:31).
CROSSING COMMUNITY CHURCH

ARTICLE I - Purpose
For the purpose that The Crossing Community Church (hereinafter “Church) be governed in an orderly manner in accordance with the Church’s Constitution, we do declare and establish these Bylaws. These Bylaws supersede all previous Bylaws.
ARTICLE II - Membership
See Constitution for primary governance regarding membership.
Section 1. Designation of Membership. In an effort to reflect accurately the membership of the Church, two rolls shall be maintained:
- Resident Members: All members who reside in Central Ohio.
- Non-resident Members: Members who move outside the Central Ohio area.
Section 2. Responsibilities of Membership.
- New members are encouraged to complete the membership class. (The membership class is taught at least annually and shares with new members the principles of the Baptist faith by a study of The Baptist Faith and Message (1963, unamended) (hereinafter “BFM”), or other literature deemed appropriate by the Church.
- To uphold the Church Covenant, a copy of which is attached hereto as Appendix A.
- Procedures for conflicts with members shall conform to Mathew 18:15-17.
ARTICLE II – Membership Section
Section 3. Procedure for Accepting Members. Prospective members shall make known their desire to unite with the church by communicating said desire in writing (by filling out a card, or writing the same by note or electronic media), enrolling in a membership class, communicating their desire to a member of the ministerial staff, or by personal response during one of the church’s worship services (following the church’s practice at the time). New members shall meet with a member of the Ministerial Staff (full-time paid pastoral staff) for counsel regarding church membership, or in the absence of a member of the Ministerial Staff, a deacon. Prospective members shall be presented to the Church in worship service. Acceptance of prospective members shall be confirmed by affirmation and prayer by the congregation.
Section 4. Voting Rights of Members. Every resident member age sixteen and over shall have the right to vote on matters affecting the ministry, organization, personnel or property of the Church. There is no provision for proxy or absentee balloting.
Section 5. Termination of Membership. Members shall be removed from the Church roll for the following reasons:
- Becoming a member of another church;
- Personal request of the member in writing;
- A letter of Transfer is sent to another Baptist Church of like faith and order. The Letter of Transfer shall not be granted directly to the individual.
ARTICLE III - Officers
Section 1. Pastor.
- Vocation. The Pastor is the spiritual leader of the Church. His ministry is to feed and lead the Church membership and be supportive of Church ministries in spirit, presence and financial commitment. The pastor is the chief administrator of the Church and is charged with the management of
the Ministerial Staff, the Church staff and the organization of the Church. The Pastor, as major mentor of the members of the Church, is to magnify Christ and be a model of Christian behavior. The Pastor shall conduct the worship services of the Church; preside at all meetings of the Church except where another person is elected to serve; visit regularly the sick and distressed; visit prospective members to extend to them an invitation to join the Church; to cooperate fully with the Deacons, Trustees, Finance Committee, and all other Church-elected volunteer positions. The Pastor shall be an ex-officio member of all boards, committees and organizations of the Church, and his counsel and leadership is to be recognized in all of them, but he shall not be entitled to vote.
- Vacancy. When a vacancy occurs, the Church Council shall present to the Church the names of members from which at least five shall be elected by the Church to serve as the Pastor Search Committee. These members shall be elected at a regularly scheduled business meeting or at a Special Business Meeting called for that purpose. Once elected, the Pastor Search Committee shall meet, elect a chairperson and seek a Pastor. Their recommendation shall constitute a nomination.
After the Pastor Search Committee has agreed on a nomination, and before presentation to the Church, the Pastor Search Committee shall contact the prospective Pastor for the purpose of reaching tentative terms of the agreement. This agreement shall be in writing and shall stipulate the amount of salary, vacation, sick leave, maximum number and duration of Revival Meetings to be held annually in other churches, arrangements and agreements of those who supply the pulpit in the absence of the Pastor, and any other duties and obligations of the contracting parties, including a statement that the contract may be terminated by either party upon thirty days’ prior written notice to the other party. This agreement shall be presented to the Church at the time of nomination before the Church.
- Pulpit Supply. When the Pastor expects to be absent from the pulpit, he shall notify the Deacon Officers of his anticipated absence and his recommendation for a replacement. Unless there is an objection by one or more of the Deacon Officers the Pastor may proceed to so supply the pulpit. In the event of the absence of the Pastor by reason of serious illness or other emergencies, or in the event of a vacancy in the office of Pastor, the Deacon Officers shall secure a pulpit supply.
When a vacancy occurs, the Deacon Officers shall serve as a Pulpit Supply Committee and either make arrangements to have a guest minister at the worship services of the Church or to present to the Church, at a Special Business Meeting called for that purpose, an Interim Pastor. The Interim Pastor shall be approved by the Church and the terms of the agreement with him shall be stated in writing at the time the nomination is placed before the Church. The Deacon Officers shall keep the Pastor Search Committee informed of its intentions and defer to the Pastor Search Committee when it is ready to present a nomination.
- An affirmative vote by secret ballot of three fourths of those present and voting shall be necessary to approve the calling of a Pastor and other Ministerial Staff members.
- After consultation with such Church organizations or individuals as it shall deem appropriate, The Personnel Committee shall conduct a review, with the pastor, of his performance and responsibilities annually in August and at such other times as may be deemed appropriate. The Personnel Committee shall report to the Church membership at a business meeting of the Church annually that the review has taken place. Criteria for evaluation will be 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and the employment contract between the Church and Pastor.
Section 2. Ministerial Staff. The Pastor in coordination with the Personnel and Nominating Committees shall propose to the Church such ministerial roles and the personnel to fill them as needed to execute the vision and ministries of the church. The Pastor will coordinate with the Personnel Committee in selecting all paid staff ministerial positions and with the Nominating Committee to fill all volunteer ministry positions. Ministerial roles can include, but are not limited to, the following: Associate Pastor, Minister of Education, Minister of Youth, Music Director, Children’s Ministry Director, Senior Adult Activities Coordinator, College Ministries Director, Men’s Missions and Ministries Director, and Women’s Missions and Ministries Director.
Section 3. Deacons.
- Number: The preferred number of active Deacons shall be determined by dividing by eight the number of family units in the Church and rounding to the next larger whole number, where 'family unit' means a household wherein resides one or more resident members or nonmembers who through participation in church activities have become a part of the church community, except that there shall be no fewer than seven active Deacons.
- Selection: On the second Sunday of September the Church membership shall be provided with a list of all resident members 25 years of age and older who are not already deacons and have been members of the Church for at least one year. On the third Sunday of September each Church member may suggest up to 5 deacon candidates for consideration as deacons from the list. The Church Council will meet for the purpose of determining the candidates' spiritual maturity in all areas of life and measuring up to the criteria set forth for a Deacon as described in the Bible, including, but not limited to Acts 6 and I Timothy 3.
After the Church Council screening process of those nominated, the Deacons will conduct discussions with each prospective candidates as to whether the candidate believes God is calling him/her to serve as deacon and whether he/she is willing to serve if elected. The ballot of qualified candidates will be presented to the Church for vote of confirmation at a Special Business Meeting during the Sunday morning service(s). A candidate must receive a three-fourths majority of votes cast.
Unless previously ordained in a church of like faith and order, upon confirmation the deacon candidate serves the following year in a period of training with an active deacon.
At the end of the year, if the candidate still believes God is calling him/her to serve as deacon, an ordination council of ordained persons will be formed to examine and present him/her for ordination; he/she is then ordained and added to the deacon body. A candidate who has been previously ordained by a church of like faith and order is simply added to the deacon body.
- Deacons shall meet at least once a year, typically in October, to organize themselves for the coming year.
- The deacon body shall consist of the following:
(1) Active Deacons - active in service
(2) Inactive Deacons - those who no longer feel led to serve or are not attending
(3) Emeritus Deacons - those whose participation is limited by reason of health or
- Deacon Officers shall be Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and Secretary. Election of officers will be by simple majority of the deacons present at the annual organizational meeting.
- Deacons shall at all times consider themselves as servants of the Church. With the Pastor, and as the Holy Spirit leads, they are to study the needs of the Church and make recommendations to the Church in matters pertaining to its work and progress, including matters of Church discipline, and assisting the Pastor in observing the ordinances. The Pastor or Chairperson of the Deacons may call the Deacons into special session whenever the need for such arises. The Deacons shall meet at least once each month. The Deacons shall report on activities to the Church at business meetings. The Deacons should set a good example by adherence to the tenets of our faith, loyalty to the Church programs, intercessory prayer and visitation.
Section 4. Clerk. The Clerk of the Church shall be elected annually. The Clerk, in coordination with the Pastor and secretarial staff, shall keep in a suitable book a record of all of the actions of the Church, except as otherwise herein provided. The clerk shall keep a register of the names of members, with dates of admission, transfer or death, together with a record of baptisms; shall notify all officers, members of committees, and Messengers of their election or appointment; shall issue Letters of Transfer voted by the Church, preserve on file all communications and written official reports, and give legal notice of all meetings where such notice is necessary, as indicated by this Constitution. The Pastor and/or Moderator will coordinate execution of the above duties in the absence of the Clerk.
Section 5. Treasurer. The Church shall elect a Church Treasurer for a term of three (3) years. It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to supervise the following work to be performed by the Church Financial Secretary: receipt, preservation and pay out, consistent with purchasing disbursement procedures, all money or things of value paid or given to the Church, keeping at all times an itemized account of all receipts and disbursements; and prompt payment of bills for local work and expenses by check; and remittance of all funds received for denominational or other causes at least monthly by check to the appropriate party. It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to render to the Finance Committee at each regular monthly meeting a financial status report for the preceding month. An itemized financial report shall be read to the Church at its regular quarterly Business Meeting. Within thirty days after the end of each fiscal year the Treasurer shall render to the Finance Committee of the Church an annual report showing the total amount of receipts, and a summary statement of all disbursements. Prior to the rendition of this annual report, upon its completion by the Treasurer, this report shall be made available to the Church for its review. All books and accounts kept by the Treasurer shall be considered the property of the Church. The records, except confidential contributions of individuals, shall be open to inspection at all times to any member of the Church, during the regular office hours of the Financial Secretary. The Treasurer shall, upon relinquishing the duties of office, promptly deliver to the Chairperson of the Finance Committee all books, records and accounts in the Treasurer's hands pertaining or relating in any manner to the duties of the office of the Treasurer.
Section 6. Trustees. The Church shall elect three members to serve as Trustees. The term of office shall be three years, one of the number being elected annually to fill the vacancy of the one whose term of office shall expire. Having served a previous term shall not disqualify a member for re- election.
The Trustees shall, as provided by law and the action of the Church, represent the Church in all matters of legal responsibility regarding the purchase and disposal of Church property. They shall execute all legal papers relating to the Church and to the community as the Church may direct. They shall have no power to buy, sell, mortgage, lease, negotiate for sale or purchase of property, or transfer any property of the Church without a specific vote of the Church authorizing such action.
The Trustees may audit, or cause to be audited, the finances of the Church at least annually. The Trustees will determine the method of the audit.
The Trustees shall also coordinate all legal representation needed for any civil or criminal matters naming the Church or its staff, officers, or members in the execution of official church business.
Section 7. Financial Secretary. The Financial Secretary shall be directed by the Personnel Committee. The Financial Secretary shall record all donations and receipts from members and regular contributors, notify all members and regular contributors of monies donated by said persons, and assist the Treasurer in keeping the necessary financial records, and such other duties as may be assigned to the Financial Secretary by the Church. The Financial Secretary need not be a member of the Church.
Section 8. Moderator. The Church shall elect a Moderator and Vice-Moderator. These shall serve one full year and may be eligible for a re-election for one successive year, after which they shall not be eligible for a re-election until one year has passed. The Moderator shall preside at all Business Meetings of the Church. In the absence of the Moderator and Vice-Moderator, the Chairperson of the Deacons shall preside, or the Vice Chairperson of the Deacons. In the absence of all of the above, the Pastor or Clerk shall call the Church to order and a Moderator pro-tem shall be elected. The Moderator shall conduct all Business Meetings by the rules of the procedure set forth in Roberts' Rule of Order, Revised.
Section 9. The term of office of the Clerk, Treasurer, Trustees, Moderator and Vice- Moderator shall be the calendar year.
ARTICLE IV - Meetings and Organizations
Section 1. Meetings and Organizations. The Church shall maintain and foster the meetings and organizations as follows:
- For worship, preaching, instruction and evangelism, regular meetings shall be held each Lord's Day morning and at other times as coordinated through the Church Council. In emergencies, exceptions may be made by the Ministerial Staff and promptly announced to the Church or through the media.
- For the study and instruction of God's Word, there shall be Sunday School or Bible study provided for all ages, to be conducted each Lord's Day morning or another time. The Sunday School or Bible study shall follow principles that form the basis of the Church Constitution as interpreted by the Minister of Education and the Church Council.
- For training in Church membership there shall be Discipleship Training as arranged by Church staff or volunteers. Discipleship Training shall follow the principles that form the basis of the Church Constitution as interpreted by the Minister of Education and the Church Council.
- For the women and men of the Church there may be women’s and men’s based missions and ministries organizations with such officers and such forms of organization and service as their wisdom may direct under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and the teachings of the New Testament, subject to the approval of the Church.
Section 2. Business Meetings. For the transaction of the business of the Church, the following is provided:
- At any of the regular meetings for worship the Church may, without special notice, act upon the election of Messengers to councils or conventions.
- Business meetings of the Church shall be held at least quarterly and may be held monthly as determined by the Church Council. The October meeting shall be the Annual meeting of the Church.
- The Pastor, or in his absence, the Chairperson of the Deacons, may call a Special Business Meeting. The Pastor, or in his absence, the Chairperson of the Deacons, will call a Special Business Meeting when requested to do so in writing by the Deacon Officers, or upon the written request of 15 members of the Church. The object of the Special Business Meeting shall be announced when called, and no business shall be transacted at the meeting except that for which the meeting is called. The date of a Special Business Meeting must be at least seven days after the call. A Special Business Meeting shall be announced at all Sunday morning worship services and as soon as reasonable must also be given by at least one of the following methods:
(1) Distribution of written material to the congregation at all Sunday Services;
(2) Announcement of the meeting in the Church newsletter;
(3) Telephone or by electronic media; or
(4) First class letter to members.
- In extremely time-sensitive circumstances, the seven-day notice of a Special Business Meeting may be set aside by meeting all of the following conditions:
(1) With the agreement of at least three of: the Pastor, one Deacon, one Trustee, Moderator, Vice-Moderator, Clerk, or Treasurer the item of business may be presented to all Sunday morning worship services;
(2) Agreement of 75% of members at all morning worship services to set aside the seven-day notice;
(3) Action on the item of business is conditional until votes are totaled after the last Sunday morning worship service for the 75% of members to set aside the seven-day notice and the vote of action on the item of business.
- Majority vote shall decide all items of business, except for amendment of the Constitution and Bylaws, which can only be amended as prescribed in the Constitution and in the Bylaws as stated below, and calling of a Pastor and other Ministerial Staff or installing an Interim Pastor or dismissal of a member or election of a Deacon which will require a three-fourths majority.
- The order of Business at all regular Business Meetings shall be as follows: Call to order by the Moderator

ARTICLE V - Church Council
Section 1. Per the Church’s Constitution, Article VIII: “The Church Council shall consist of the full-time ministerial staff of the Church, other ministerial staff and directors for ministry as approved by the church, all committee chairpersons, Moderator, Chairperson of the Deacons, and Chairperson of the Trustees.”
Section 2. The duties of the Church Council shall be:
- Recommend objectives and goals for the Church, including strategies and use of resources to achieve them at each annual meeting.
- Report to the Church evaluation of program achievements in terms of the Church’s objectives and goals from the previous year at each annual meeting.
- Set the Church calendar and coordinate program plans and actions offered by Church officials, organizations and committees, and provide for adequate communication among these groups.
ARTICLE VI - Committees
Section 1. Suggested committee members shall be presented by the Nominating Committee for election by the Church unless otherwise specifically provided for in this Constitution. Nominations during a business meeting, not arising from the Nominating Committee shall not be elected, but referred to the Nominating Committee to allow for appropriate screening and any further action. These Committees shall make reports to the Church at least quarterly. All standing committees (with the exception of Church Council and Nominating Committee) will serve on the calendar year (January-December) and not on the Church year (October-September). All elected members of standing committees, as listed in these Bylaws, will be elected for a 3-year term with one or two members rotating off each year. Vacancies will be filled on a yearly basis as members' terms expire. Members rotating off may be reelected. Each committee will elect its Chairperson from Committee members.
Section 2. Nominating Committee. A Nominating Committee, consisting of three persons shall be recommended annually at the April business meeting by the Pastor, Chairperson of the Deacons, and Chairperson of the Trustees, and shall be elected by the Church annually, and shall serve for one year. It shall be the duty of this Committee to bring to a Church Business Meeting nominations for all volunteer positions, including the ministry positions to be selected by the Church per the Bylaws, Article III, Section 2. Upon election by the Church, these ministry positions shall be added to the Committee of three to compose the Nominating Committee. All paid Ministerial Staff positions will serve ex officio on this committee. The Committee may nominate only Church members to Church-elected volunteer positions.
Section 3. Standing Committees
A. Finance Committee. This Committee shall consist of at least five members who are representatives of and familiar with the needs of each of the Church. This committee shall have three officers: Treasurer, Financial Secretary, and Stewardship Leader. It shall be the duty of this Committee to study the needs of the Church and recommend a financial program for the Church. After consultation with all of the Church organizations, they shall prepare a recommended Budget for adoption by the Church. This Committee shall supervise the general financial program of the Church and any changes deemed necessary to the Budget shall be referred to this Committee for consideration and recommendation.
The Treasurer shall be the chairperson, working with the Pastor to cast the financial vision. The Financial Secretary shall be the clerk, oversee collections and tellers. Tellers will total collections and deliver envelopes to the Financial Secretary to be posted and reported on the Church records.
The Stewardship Leader shall be responsible for the educational program for the promotion of the underwriting of the Budget and in leading the Church and each individual member into full commitment to God in worship through tithes and offerings.
B. Hospitality Committee. This Committee shall consist of at least five persons. The Hospitality Chairperson will be the liaison for shared kitchen use (including CNC, Stowe, VBS, and the like of other names). In conjunction with pastors the hospitality committee will facilitate a spirit of cooperation with those who are reaching the community through church functions, weddings, and funerals. It will coordinate flowers that are used in worship services and provide for the removal of all arrangements as needed, including re-use. It shall be their duty to plan and provide for all Church-wide fellowships. They will recommend all additions or replacements of kitchen equipment to the Church. The hospitality chair will sit on the Church Council.
C. Properties Committee. This Committee shall be composed of at least five members. The paid Ministerial Staff and Trustees will be ex-officio members. Other members should include the Committee Chairperson, Facilities Manger, and Transportation Coordinator. This Committee will:
(1) Maintain adequate and attractive Church property and coordinate cleaning
(2) Conduct a systematic program of improvements by surveying the needs of the physical equipment and presenting suggestions and bids to the Finance Committee;
(3) Purchase equipment and maintenance supplies authorized by the Church;
(4) Supervise the maintenance of the Church property, including vehicles;
(5) Supervise the lending of specific church properties including vehicles and keep records of those properties loaned
(6) Maintain church vehicles and coordinate transportation and driver schedules. (Collect from each driver a copy of a valid state driver’s license to be filed in the church office and track expiration dates to assure compliance; recommend the purchase of church-owned or rental of vehicles; and maintain church vehicles)
(7) Supervise and coordinate building use schedule
D. Nursery Committee. This Committee shall consist of at least three members. It will arrange for nursery helpers to staff all worship services that have nurseries.
E. Personnel Committee. This Committee shall consist of at least five members. This Committee shall be responsible for the selection and calling or hiring of all paid personnel with the exception of the Pastor. This Committee shall prayerfully examine the qualifications, and if appropriate, the spiritual and theological soundness of each applicant, and shall individually discuss with each the duties and responsibilities of the office or job to be filled. After selection by the Personnel Committee, said person or persons shall be presented to the Church for approval. The Committee shall review all salary and benefit packages annually and make appropriate recommendations to the Finance Committee for inclusion in the annual Church Budget. The Committee shall conduct an annual review with the Pastor as provided for in these Bylaws, Article III, Section 1, paragraph E.
ARTICLE VII - Amendments
The Bylaws may be amended by a vote of two-thirds of the members present at a regular Business Meeting, provided the amendment has been presented in writing and read at a previous regular Business Meeting.

Appendix A CHURCH COVENANT
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith having been baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We promise therefore by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church in knowledge, holiness, understanding and care; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; and to support its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines.
We promise to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the Church for its expenses, its commitments to spread the Gospel into all the world and its assistance to those in need.
We promise to maintain family and private Bible study and prayer; to educate our children in the Christian faith; and to share our faith with our family and community.
We promise to walk honestly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful to our commitments and honorable in our conduct; to avoid gossip, malicious talk and excessive anger; and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
We further promise to watch over one another in Christian love; to remember each other in prayer; to help each other in times of trouble; to show Christian character in our speech and in our
concern for others; to be not easily offended and always ready to settle differences, remembering Christ’s command to do so quickly.
We moreover promise that when we move from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of covenant and the principles of God’s word.
